The Pyrenees PrimaLoft comforter is made with a sewn-through box design from end to end. In this construction, the bottom of the shell is laid out, the filling is placed over it, the top of the shell covers the filling, and the layers are stitched together all the way through. The filling is locked into place, sewn to the top and bottom of the shell, and so the comforter provides a nice, even warmth since the filling stays evenly distributed.

Exceeded My Expectations

I've been looking for a great down alternative comforter for several months now. I've searched in Department Stores, Bed and Bath store, and finally, online at Amazon. The comforters that I really liked in the brick and mortar stores were of exceptional quality, but also high priced. I could not find any comforters that I could see taking home for under $200.When I saw this comforter on Amazon, I was a bit skeptical, and thought "hey, if I don't like it, I'll send it back" - Well, this baby is staying on my bed! It really is wonderful! Great quality! Pure comfort! And for under $100 for the medium fill (which I purchased), you can't beat the price for the quality.Oh - One major part of my decision to order was the box stitching and how this feature keeps the fill from sliding to the edges of the comforter. If you are seriously searching for a comforter like this, buy it now! You will be thrilled with the deal!

I am so happy I purchased this comforter. The PrimaLoft fill is what caught my attention - especially as I was comparing it with other online retailers. This sold for less than half the price of another retailer - who was offering it as part of their "ultimate winter sale!"Two points I would like to add (not necessarily negatives): First, the cover fabric is a little noisy. I only noticed this in the beginning, so it might have been the original finish from the manufacturer. Secondly, this is definitely oversized. I looked around for a duvet to help keep the bright white fabric clean. However, this comforter (king-size) is wider and longer than any king-size duvet cover I could find.

After searching high and low all over the stores and internet for a Hypoallergenic comforter, I am very happy to find this. I came across this item initially as I was looking for a PrimaLoft comforter. Since my husband and I are allergic to dust mites, I want to find a washable comforter. The best hypoallergenic material is PrimaLoft. PrimaLoft was originally contracted and found for US Military. It is anti-microbial, warm, light, and water resistant (dust mites grow more with moisture). Most hypoallergenic filler start to break down after several washes but PrimaLoft is much more durable.As I was looking, I realized that the cheaper PrimaLoft would cost me around $150-$200, and it goes up as high as $500. And the thread count for the lower range is usually around 200-330. This comforter has very high thread count of 400 and very high fill power of 550, which will normally cost over $250. And it is made in USA (although the shell material is imported from China). But I never heard of the brand name Pinzon so I was curious why it's so cheap. I did some research and was surprised to find out that "Pinzon" is actually a brand created by Amazon.com.I was skeptical about the brand and did some research about the manufacturing. What I discovered was a big surprise - this comforter is manufactured by DownLite. I went to DownLite's website and discovered that DownLite actually manufacture the majority of PrimaLoft bed products, including brands such as the Company Store, Eddie Bauer, Bloomingdales, Macy's, and for major hotels. I also went to PrimaLoft's website, and realized 80%-90% of the brands they list there are manufactured by DownLite. So my conclustion was I'm pretty much getting similar product, the only difference is different brands stick on the comforter and quality requirement by the brands.After all these good surprises, I ordered the comforter. When I received it, it seemed thin just like many reviewers described. I wasn't sure if it would be warm enough for New York winter. Initially I tried it on without duvet cover and I could feel breeze coming through. It was warm but not warm enough. So I decided to try it on with the duvet cover - it made a world's difference! With the duvet cover, this comforter became very warm ( I guess the cover insulated the breeze). I was very satisfied.I used the comforter for a week now. I haven't washed it or used it long enough to know how it will stand over time, but so far I'm very happy with this purchase. I hope this review with all the background will help you making your decisions.
