The Feel
This 12" mattress has a medium feel. Not too firm and not too plush, this mattress will please any Goldilocks with a "just right" feel.
Dual Memory Foam Layers

Let's break down how this mattress is engineered for sleep. First is the plush memory foam comfort layer which is softer and lighter than other memory foams. Great affordable mattress

I am very happy with the purchase of the Queen size Lucid 12" memory foam mattress. I originally purchased the Sleep Innovations 12" mattress but stumbled upon the Lucid in time to cancel before shipment. A major factor in that decision was that the Lucid was a $100 cheaper, and although the Sleep Innovations had such good reviews, I was worried about the reviews saying it was really firm.Initial Impressions: The package arrived a day later then intended, but that was a Fedex mistake. The mattress came pretty well packaged. I recommend opening it in the room you will be using it in. It completely expanded fairly quick. The bamboo cover is a nice bonus. Upon opening the Lucid it had a pretty strong odor, but only if you were lying on it (you shouldn't be until 48 hours). I placed a fan near the mattress and by the end of the second day there was absolutely zero odor.After five days: I love this mattress. I could not be more impressed with such an affordable mattress. I shopped around at several mattress stores, and I've tried all the major memory foam brands. I will say that this bed is comparable to a Tempur-Pedic. Of course I did like the TP Cloud Deluxe mattress better, but it's literally 10 times as expensive (and out of my budget). The Lucid is in my opinion a softer memory foam mattress, which I like. A lot of the memory foam mattress's are super firm, but not this one.Closing thoughts: Buy this mattress if you are looking for a softer memory foam mattress. I'm amazed at the quality of the Lucid. I was worried about how cheap it was, especially with no reviews present at the time of purchase, but I couldn't be happier. The price/comfort level is unbeatable.Shop around for foundations. I almost bought one online until I went to a Sleepy's near my new apartment. I got a $350 solid wood foundation for $100 because one corner had a very small stain which is completely covered by a bed skirt. 10/02/2011 - I must've read over 200 reviews when looking to purchase a new mattress and decided t go with the temperpedic. I have slept on very expensive temperpedic beds and knew that it was worth it for me to get one. I was on a budget and hoping to get more bang for my buck. I have a sleep disorder and DO NOT sleep well. I am a light sleeper and will wake from noise or movement in the bed, etc. I waited to write this review after sleeping on it for approximately 3 weeks. I have uploaded my images to this page. I ordered it and with prime membership paid $3.99 for next day shipping. It arrived in a box that i was able to get upstairs with some help (here's no handles on box, it's awkward and weighs 50-70lbs). I opened box carefully and carefully removed plastic liner. I had purchased two sheets of heavy duty plywood ($20 a sheet from Home Depot and they cut it for me). I used the wood to create a platform base on my Queen bed frame (see uploaded pictures). After unrolling mattress and placing it on wood, t was not a full 12inches yet, but it was already fluffing up to 9inches. There was minimal odor. I left overhead fans on and windows open for 1 day. Next day my boyfriend and I slept on it. I didn't even notice him toss or turn. I know it's not the same as a $2,000 to $5,000 temperpedic, but it is damn close enough for me. It feels great and I am sleeping like a dream. My boyfriend and mother were impressed with price, quality and ease of set up and shipping. After reading reviews, I chose this bed because it had the least amount of negative feedback. I am someone who has used pillowtop mattresses in the past, I do not like a super firm mattress. I think this is a nice mix of support, but comfort. My boyfriend and I usually differ some in our mattress taste, but he likes this one. He doesn't even feel me get out of bed in the morning before him. I don't notice if he gets up either. The bamboo cover sheet protector is nice so I didn't buy a separate mattress cover. I took several pictures from tie I received it, to set up, they are uploaded and should be able to help give you a visual of what to expect. If your looking for bang for your buck and great night's sleep, then I would highly suggest this mattress.02/20/2012 - UPDATE - I still really love this bed. I sleep really well on it. It felt a bit softer now after a few months worth of use. I just asked my fiance his thoughts for an update. He said he liked it, then didn't and now likes it again. He has been slow to adjust to the temperpedic feel, but does like it. Our only complaint? We wish we got a King size! Still very happy at almost 7 months in.

Not soft and doughy at all.

After a lot of contemplation and comparing reviews for various mattresses I decided to bite the bullet and go for this one, especially after seeing so many great reviews. Everything about my purchase was smooth sailing. Delivery was on time and things went well with getting the mattress put onto our platform bed. Let me tell you that this is a very well built product and the bamboo cover is fantastic. The problem I have with this mattress is that it is advertised as soft and doughy, but isn't. I realize that it can be left to one's own interpretation as to what "soft" and "doughy" mean, but a rational person would come to the conclusion that it's not hard. So I went into this purchase with the idea that it wasn't going to be as soft as advertised but that it wouldn't be "hard". Sadly it is a very firm mattress, which confused me because so many people said that it was soft. I can see how many people would enjoy the firmness provided, but I personally could not sleep on it. After trying for about 1 week of restless nights and sore mornings, I relented.I decided to talk to Amazon about a return. This is one of the first products that I have purchased and wanted to return based on be unsatisfied because the item was not as described (perhaps there was some sort of manufacturing defect with the memory foam which made it firmer than normal). After explaining that the bed was not as advertised. I was really worried about what to do because this was a big purchase (physically and monetarily). Amazon transfered me to their Large Items Department who graciously accepted to send CEVA to pick it up. I was told that I needed no cover nor box for the return shipping, because I wasn't expected to provide the item with that because it is now 300% bigger than the way it came (they ship these in a smaller box about the size of two microwave ovens, once unpackaged it expands to normal mattress size). I was totally blown away. What amazing service! This is why I shop with Amazon. I don't think that I will buy another mattress online, but I can continue to confide in Amazon as a dependable and respected online retailer that cares and provides an extremely high quality of service to any and all of their customers.As for the mattress, just realize that mine might be an isolated incident with how firm the mattress I received was. But if you are deciding to purchase this mattress go into it planning that it will be firmer than advertised.
