READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY !!!!! :)

I actually read all the reviews before I made my purchase because it did not have the best rating. I noticed how a lot of them complained that it was damaged upon delivery and/or that it was poorly made and had chips and broken pieces. I gave the company the benefit of the doubt and decided to buy the platform bed and I have to admit that I am very pleased with the product. It feels sturdy, looks nice and probably is best for young adults. I do have some tips so make sure you read them all. Oh and it was delivered intact without a scratch! 1. I strongly suggest using a drill ! 2. The item is heavy about 125 lbs so if you are by yourself or even with another person I suggest bringing it as close to your front door as possible and open the package there. Bring every piece to the room you will be using it in because it wont move after you finish it. Be careful not to damage the product whilst transporting the pieces. It will dent and scratch if not handled with care. 3. While assembling the bed, I suggest using wood glue for every screw and dowel used it will help secure the screws and make for a stronger, more reliable bed. Also using wood glue is good because if you ever have to take it apart unscrewing the screws wont strip the wood instead it will strip the glue a bit and you can always put more glue in after. 4. So the directions kind of suck... It says to put the platforms ( unfinished wood) on first then the railings on second (the pieces of finished wood that will secure the mattress. Bad idea . PUT THE SIDE RAILINGS ON FIRST ON THE PLATFORMS THAT WILL BE GOING ON THE EDGES OF THE BED. The railing that goes on the front of the bed, well you will just have to either screw it on manually with a screw driver, which means laying on your back, or get someone to help you lift it high enough where you can put something underneath to support it so you can use a drill. 5. Make sure the platforms all are even and use those pieces of wood as a measuring device before using the screws !Its a good deal for the price.I gave it a four cause the directions suck

for $139 bucks and free shipping, this bed is a good deal. Yes, it's 100% high density particle board, but you will be hard pressed to find something that isn't in this price range. I was looking for a good, sturdy, simple platform for my memory foam mattress, and that's exactly what I got. I don't know what's going on with all the negative reviews saying this thing is hard to put together. If you can put together a bookshelf from Wal-mart, you can put this together quicker and easier. It took me about an hour and a half to do it by myself and I didn't encounter any difficulty with it. The only part that is a pain is screwing in the moulding as the last step because you have to prop the bed up and get down there and screw upward. If you're trying to do this part alone, it will be made much MUCH easier if you have some sort of clamp you can use to hold the rail in place while you drive the screws in.Tips:Spend $10 and get some corner braces and a pack of very short wood screws. If you use these to reinforce the corners and joins on the inside, not only will it ensure all the corners are square, it will probably double the life of this bed.As stated before, if you are doing this alone, some method of firmly clamping the moulding while you drive the screws will save you a lot of time and frustration.Make extremely sure that all the corners are square before you start screwing down the platform boards. if it is even a little off, things won't line up right. This won't be a problem if you are using corner braces.Those two little useless blocks of particle board that come with it are intended to measure the proper amount that the platform is supposed to overlap the base. Use them and make sure it is dead even all the way across from top to bottom. If you do that with the first board you screw down, all the rest will line up perfectly just using the first board as a guide. If you DON'T use them, your whole platform will be crooked and the screw holes won't be in the right places. I suspect most of the reviews saying the screw holes weren't in the right place were due to skipping this step.Anyway, good bed, good price. 4 stars instead of 5 because I think they should have included some reinforcing hardware for a bed like this. It wouldn't have cost them much, and would really improve the durability of their product.

You get what you pay for

The bed took about 2 hours to put together with 2 people. It came damaged (one of the boards that you lay the mattress on itself had a corner w/ particle board broken off), and there isn't really anything you can do about it. The molding around the bed didn't come with holes drilled into it, but it is soft so you have to force the screws into the molding itself, all the while from the bottom up (hardest part of putting it together). Some screws don't screw in tightly to the base boards. The molding is only held on by about 6 screws on the very edge of a board, and putting any force on it at all bends it/break it.Overall, you get what you pay for. It is made from cheap particle board for the most part, with visible unpainted/uncovered bits at certain places. However it does its job and looks decent. Spend a few extra dollars and buy a platform bed from a local furniture store instead so you don't risk not being able to return damaged goods and can have a real look at it.
