Sklyine King Size Bed in Aubergine

I received this bed yesterday, and I have to say I couldn't be happier with it. That being said there are a few things you should probably know.Yes, you have to assemble it, but it's not as bad as you might think. It took my husband and I approximately 2 hours to put together, and while you could do it yourself, I reccommend having 2 people. This complete bed includes the headboard, upholstered side rails, and the bed frame itself. The one complaint that I have about the product is that the directions were not very clear, and the diagrams provided are so small that its really hard to see exactly where and how some of the bolts fit. If you've had any experience putting together furniture, its really not THAT bad.Once put together the bed is very sturdy, and the velvet fabric is so soft. We purchased the Aubergine color and it's a very nice, rich purple. I did contact the company before purchasing to request a sample of the fabric. They were more than happy to send me one, and it took less than a week to get it.The only thing that I will say is that the space between the bottom of the head board and the bedframe is quite large. We have an 8 inch box spring and a 14 inch mattress and that just closes the gap, so if you have thinner mattress it may not be thick enough so there isn't any gap between the matress and headboard. Also, the back of the headboard is not finished, so you definitely need to put it up against the wall.All that being said, its a great bed for a great price, even free shipping. It did take a few weeks to arrive, just FYI.

Disastrous

We ordered this bed back at the beginning of January, and were told it would take 8-10 weeks to ship. We finally got notice that they shipped the item the 2nd week of February and that because the item was "oversized" it was being sent by freight (a company named CEVA) and the freight company would contact us to arrange delivery for an estimated date of February 21st. CEVA never did contact us, we had to track them down to figure out what was happening, and the bed did finally get delivered. When we unpacked it, we were thrilled with the look and feel of the fabric, and were eager to get it assembled. This is where the real trouble started. The holes in the headboard and side rails where you need to bolt the 2 pieces together were drilled in the wrong spots and did not line up. They were off on both sides, so there really wasn't any way to make it work. I contacted Amazon immediately and they were fantastic about arranging a replacement order. It would once again take 8-10 weeks, but we loved the look of the bed so much that we were willing to wait. Amazon's customer rep also arranged for CEVA to take the defective bed back when they delivered the replacement. I finally got an email on March 28 that the bed had shipped, with an estimated delivery date of April 4th. CEVA was once again clueless, but an Amazon rep helped us sort out the mess CEVA had made with delivering a new item and taking away an old. The new bed was delivered today, the old one taken away. We unpacked everything, and started to assemble. Same problem as the first item, only not as severe. We really don't want to return or exchange the bed AGAIN, so we're trying to see if we can find a way to attach it and have it be sturdy. (Because it's upholstered, we can't drill our own holes). I did contact Amazon right away and let them know so they could document it, and also asked for Skyline's contact information. The rep at Skyline was horribly rude, made no apologies for anything and did not offer to remedy the situation. They tried to blame it all on Amazon, which is amusing since Amazon did not manufacture the item.As much as we love the look, I would not suggest purchasing this item. Again, Amazon customer service was very helpful, but that doesn't fix Skyline's apparent habit of sending out defective items.

I ordered the Skyline Light Gray Velvet Tufted Wingback King Bed on Amazon. When I ordered this bed, I was extremely nervous about the order after reading all of the reviews. But I just loved the look and price, so I went ahead and ordered it thinking...I can return it if I hate it or if it is as awful as some of the reviews read. I received the bed on Tuesday, unpacked it and set it up the next day. The wait for the bed to come in was a little long and it took almost a month to arrive from the date that I ordered it online. It came in two boxes, and unfortunately, the boxes do say MADE IN CHINA even though it is advertised as Made in America. I have put together furniture before, so I was familiar with the bizillion parts that come in the box and vague instructions. The instructions are not the best, but you can follow them easily. I was able to put the bed together, BY MYSELF, in about 2 1/2 hours. It only took me that long because I was doing other things while putting the bed together and I was, afterall, putting a huge bed together by myself. It went together fine with a few screws and washers left over. My only complaint with the assembly is that the footboard and sideboards have a very small (maybe 1/4 inch if that) gap between them. It looks like maybe the wood is a little warped, but the gap is so small only an anal person like myself would even notice it. Overall this is an AMAZING bed!!! I love that it looks like I spent a small fortune on it. The velvet tufting is awesome and I feel like my bedroom has been transformed into a luxurious hotel room!!! There were several complaints in the reviews about there being a gap between the mattress and the bottom of the headboard. I bought a Jamison king mattress that has a pillow top on one side and box springs and did not have any gap between the mattress and headboard. If you are worried about this, measure the mattress and box springs (like I did) before you buy the bed. If you find that there is a gap, buy a memory foam mattress topper and this should clear up any gaps. I would recommend this bed to anyone! Don't get caught up in the complaints about the bed because IT IS FABULOUS!!!
